Geschichte
1945 versuchten verbliebene Spieler und Funktionäre des ehemaligen FC Altstadt, diesen zu reaktivieren. Spieler wie Fritz Feitzinger, Oskar Ludl, Leopold Tannhofer, Karl Winzer, Hermann Ganzera, Josef Karlstätter, Reinhold Kräter, Hans Schafleitner, Alois Fankhauser und Ludwig Scheiber, die noch dem FC Altstadt angehörten, angeführt von den „neuen Köpfen“ Augustin Weis und Toni Haidenthaler einigen sich auf den Namen FC Rot-Weiß-Rot. Doch bereits im Dezember 1945 wurde von Augustin Weis (Obmannstv.) und Anton Haidenthaler (Obmann, Sportlicher Leiter)der Union FC Salzburg ins Leben gerufen. Hermann Schlager als Schriftführer und Fritz Feitzinger als Kassier komplettieren den ersten Vorstand.
In seinem ersten Spiel gewann der UFC gegen den ATSV Maxglan im Februar 1946 5:3. Verstärkt mit aus deutschsprachigen Gebieten geflohenen Volksdeutschen sorgte er bei den drei großen Vereinen (SSK, SAK und Austria) schon bald für großes Kopfzerbrechen. Aufgrund der ÖFB-Bestimmungen durften vorerst nur Österreicher am Meisterschaftsbetrieb teilnehmen, sodaß beim UFC nach einigen Achtungserfolgen mitten unter der Saison 1946/47 sechs Spieler ersetzen mußte und dieser schließlich nur den vierten Endrang belegte. Mit Franz Wintschalek, Rudi Götz, Fritz Müller, Franz Zlatohlawek oder Franz Burghardt verstärkte sich der UFC mit Spielern aus Ostösterreich und eroberte drei Landesmeisterschaften (1948, 1949, 1950), einen Pokalsieg (1948) und wurde bester Salzburger Verein in der neu erschaffenen Tauernliga.
Überalterung, Verletzungspech, Auswanderungen von Spielern nach Amerika und Spielerabgänge wie etwa Toni Krammer zum SAK oder Rudi Götz zur Austria beendeten den Höhenflug des seit 1950 nur mehr FC Salzburg heißenden Vereins. 1957 bleibt keine andere Wahl als sich mit der SV Danubia Salzburg zusammenzuschließen. Der neue Vereinsname lautet nun UFC Salzburg-Danubia. In den nächsten Jahren findet sich der UFC als Paternosterklub wieder, Abstiegen folgen Aufstiege und wiederrum Abstiege.
Heute findet sich der UFC in der 2. Klasse Nord wieder, der niedrigsten in Salzburg.

Spielort
Wie auch der vermeintliche Vorgängerverein FC Altstadt Salzburg ist auch der UFC im Nonntal beheimatet. Während der Bauphase des Sportzentrums Mitte ist der UFC Untermieter beim ASV Salzburg in Itzling, danach bezieht er gemeinsam mit dem SAK 1914das Sportzentrum Mitte. Auf dem alten, mittlerweile abgerissenem UFC-Platz im Nonntal beherbergte der UFC zeitweise auch den USK Gneis und den Sportverein Austria Salzburg.
